Not much interesting to report....lots of Obama bumper stickers. Not a lot of yard signs for anyone (probably because this is the kind of area where people wouldn't dream of ruining their landscaped lawns with signs).

I know two people who are voting for John McCain. Everyone else is either too embarrassed to admit that they are, or nobody else is.

Nobody likes Palin or jives with her Joe Six Pack crap--it's not meant for us, I guess, but I know those folksy references go right over my Jewish New York suburban head.

When I was a kid, I thought this country was half Jewish, half Catholic and that everyone was a Democrat. That's the kind of place southern NY is. Not interesting demographically, but a good old chunk of votes for Dems.

More than once, I've wished I lived in Ohio or somewhere "swingy" so that I'd get to be part of an "exciting" election state. I met Barack, but had to drive six hours to NH to do so, stood in the heat for five hours, six months pregnant, heard him talk. One of the best days of my life.

NY Republican Party is never all that hopping; it's a blue, blue state. The Democratic Party isn't hopping, either, mostly because it's an inevitability that Dems usually sweep these areas. He's solidly right-wing, of course, but unless you can cite specific obviously racist remarks (and actually, even if you can cite a few), I believe you're severely assassinating his character. No way is he an unreconstructed segregationist and supporter of terrorism against blacks like Strom Thurmond and George Wallace were. And for all his right-wing bloviation, he is friends with Edward Kennedy and has co-sponsored some bipartisan legislation. So as much as his usual propaganda campaign annoys me, I think that for a Senator from Utah, you could do far worse.

Fair enough. I guess I'm throwing him in with Trent Lott and Jesse Helms as the 3 Senators to succeed Wallace and thurmond as obnoxious dumb good ol' boys that I can't stand. Almost my whole life, the Republicans have run things, poorly I might add. I'm just sick of it. Hearing Hatch, conrtinually interrupt Mitchell and act like the reason Obama is doing well is because the media has made it so, just pissed me off and reminded me of bad things. Hatch is not as bad as those other 4 Senators, as he's not from the South. He never was and I agree he's not as bad as Wallace, Helms, Thurmond, or Lott.

Because I don't like feeding trolls.While I'm almo...

Because I don't like feeding trolls.

While I'm almost certainly paranoid, that is not evidence of the absence of conspiracy.

new post

new post

Jeff---With all due respect, I completely disagree...

Jeff---
With all due respect, I completely disagree, and I'm pretty closely into this (if you're involved, you'll recognize me by my first name ;) .
