The issue of Palin's fifth child is an utter irrelevancy, If that's all we have to criticize her for (assuming that it's true, about which I am dubious) then we are in deep doodoo.

Geoff: If you have to rely upon Palin's being CinC of the Alaska national guard to claim national security credentials, you guys are in even deeper doodoo.

Let's try deal with facts as facts. Being ex officio CinC of a state's national guard confers no experience dealing with foreign affars.

Obama's formal credentials are not the most extensive in the world, but they are substantially better than Palin's. On the other hand, those who point out that Palin is merely the VP candidate, not the presidential nominee, are correct.

And the troll droppings and ad hominem argument droppings (from all sides) are getting thicker and thicker.

Perhaps we could try to remember that we are (mostly) all Americans here and that we want what is best for the country although we mag dispute strenuously about what that is. We should assume good itent until the contrary is demonstrated. Until then, attack the argument, not the person.

and regarding the Senate foreign relations committee, Obama has handed a plum job of chairing an important subcommittee and failed to hold a single hearing despite the fact that the subcommittee's jurisdiction includes Afganistan, Obama's latest example of his judgment.

Cainer is just as guilty for shirking his senate duties, and right now its an open question for me who would be a better president.

Obama has no foreign policy experience and no executive government experience at all. The only executive experience of any kind he does have is handing out 100 million with Ayers through the CAC, which, incidentally, has been labeled as having "limited effect" by the CAC itself.

I am open to either Obama or McCain, but I am not open to shrill lefty attacks on Palin that apply just as much to Obama, only more so because Obama is the top of the Dems ticket.

Notwithstanding the above, as a centrist i will await the debates to move my vote. Again, i hope you read about cognitive dissonance online and think about your present stance.

No. You are referring to EFCA, the Employee Free Choice Act, which Obama does indeed support. But here's the thing: the ONLY change EFCA would make to current law is that the *employer* could no longer insist on elections in circumstances where the employer currently could. It wouldn't change employee rights at all.

Currently, employees can be recognized through elections or through voluntary employer recognition if the employees submit a majority of signed cards with no evidence of coercion or fraud. And employees have a right to an election if the can get 30% of the relevant employees to ask for one.

EFCA changes nothing about *employee* rights to ask for an election.

However, EFCA would require employers to recognize a union with a legit signed card majority, instead of the current law which allows *employers* to choose whether to recognize without an election or whether to have an election.

It's intellectually honest to say you oppose EFCA because you think employers should have the right to choose whether employees get an election. But it's not intellectually honest -- or at least it's not factually correct -- to say EFCA eliminates any right to elections employees currently have.
