Obama thinks that he can treat the American electorate as a politically knowledgeable group and that they will reciprocate. Wrong! Overestimating the political acumen of Americans is a big mistake. He should remember what Adlai Stevenson told one of his advisers during the campaign against Eisenhower. His aid said that Adlai would get the votes of every thinking person in America. Adlai replied that wouldn't be enough votes because he needed a majority.

IN and MO are there to get close and maybe fluke out a win.
I think that IN and MO with borders on IL have demographic connections/paths that will help in OH,VA,CO,NV,MI.

If O and Joe are within 1 point in IN, they surely wins OH, MI, PA and VA.

MO has similar epiphenomena effects on OH, CO, NV.

I hear that Ron Paul is going to tell people to vote for any 3rd party. This might be the best thing going for O. The combined effect could equal a kind of Perot effect, which was absolutely necessary for Clinton and Gore to win.

Quite frankly, I think Obama should agree to another debate with McCain and Barr, Nader, McKinney, and what's his name.

Barr will make GA complicated for McCain.
Nader and McKinney will make Obama look like a slightly to the left of center, rather than far left.

Finally, there are lots of Catholics who'd vote for Obama if abortion wasn't the bogey man issue that it is. For those Catholics, it is far better than they register a de-legitimating vote for some 3rd Party than voting for McCain, whom they culturally don't connect with anyway. Note also that McCain's lack of consistent ethical position on embryonic stem cell research and pandering on abortion during 2000, as well as the lack of any change notwithstanding Reagan and Bush, Jr. strikes more and more Catholics as an "I was duped and you duped me" moment.

Honestly? I think it doesn't hurt McCain at all. Ron Paul supporters already know how he feels about McCain, and dispersing his small crowd among a host of fringe candidates won't change much in any state.

Lots of Paul supporters around here were holding their nose and voting for McCain. Paul explicitly telling them otherwise will probably sway some more.

It's funny that John McCain howls with mock outrage about "pigs with lipstick" on the very day that he proves unequivocally that he is, indeed, a pig.

But you don't win a fight with a pig by jumping into the sty with it. You make people choose between voting for a leader, or voting for a pig.
