Fine, but
1) She will win WV also.
2) I think this has to do with the Political Ideology, Education, and the Geographics (Big Sky states almost all there) etc.pp. Not so much with the election...
3) States with many gunowners tend to be Republican, in the Primaries most red states voted for Obama. But that has not much effect on the General Election.
Also, most of those Western states had caucuses which attract more activists. Most of those Southern states don't have a bunch of white Democrats left.
More importantly, most of these Western states have an independent leave-me-alone attitude. That may make them gravitate towards Obama, whom is perceived to be (marginally) better than Clinton in that regard, but McCain will have a strong advantage in the fall.
Also don't forget Hillary's close association in the minds of voters with the 1994 Feinstein ban, the most hated piece of Federal gun legislation in American history.
Just this week, HRC reiterated her promise to outlaw the most popular target rifles in America.
Personally, *this* gun owner is leaning toward Obama, because I am hoping he will be less likely to repeat the idiocy of 1994, and McCain is unacceptable on other civil liberties issues. But the party desperately needs to keep the AWB and other proposed gun bans off the table, not only prior to the election but also after, or else it could be 1994 redux. The vast majority of gun owners are NOT hunters.
Ugh. There is obviously no reason for any human being to own an assault weapon. Here's hoping that's something that's dealt with. I can't believe people would actually vote based on the right to own a gun. Guess I'm out of touch with the hicks that there are out there.
Yes, gun ownership and voting, as part of the "hick" population I see it as our right passed down from our fore fathers. I love how certian people can scream freedom of speech and seperation of church and state but yell hick, redneck, and murdere when it comes to another basic right of Americans. The founders of this country understood that we had certain rights, all of these rights have given us the greatest freedom of any country on this Earth. If you take away one of these rights then eventually all of them will be taken away. Then we can experiance what it is like to live in Darfur.
i believe freedom is absolute. You have all freedoms until they impose on my freedoms. It is foolish to believe Americans will give up their guns no matter what laws are passed. That would be a true case of laws creating criminals. I have tried to find the full context of the speech and can only see it printed on youtube. seems to me obama is saying that Americans are frustrated and are holding onto "side issues" that they feel they have some form of control over. Almost as if they are saying 'you can have that as long as i can keep this".
